About EMET
The EMET (Emergency Medicine Education and Training) program, funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and administered by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM), is delivered in South Australia by SAPMEA.
It aims to improve emergency care quality and access in rural and regional areas by providing essential education, training, and supervision to general practitioners, medical officers, nurses, and paramedics.
With many regional hospitals lacking Specialist Emergency Medicine doctors, the EMET program is crucial for supporting these frontline providers and offers supervision for doctors pursuing the Emergency Medicine Certificate (EMC) and Associateship in Intermediate Emergency Medicine (AACEM).
The SAPMEA EMET Hub
SAPMEA offers three key programs: the Adult EMET Program for emergency medicine topics in specific South Australian regions, the Perinatal EMET Program covering Obstetric, Neonatal, and Paediatric topics statewide, and the Emergency Medicine ECHO Program, a virtual platform for community learning and peer support. These initiatives aim to enhance emergency care through targeted education and collaborative development.
Who is EMET for?
EMET workshops are aimed at all General Practitioners, Medical Professionals, Nursing staff, Paramedics and Allied Health Professionals working within an Emergency Care Setting in a rural or regional hospital in South Australia.

EMET activities will be accredited by ACRRM and RACGP, with some workshops qualifying for the Rural Procedural Grants Program (RPGP). Please refer to each workshop for CPD details and eligibility. All participants will receive a statement of attendance.
